Numerous federal agencies are charged with the responsibility for providing temperature and time sensitive medicines, foodstuffs and other products to civilian, governmental, charitable, and military organizations and entities across the United States and around the world. Because of the size and complexities involved in carrying out these important responsibilities, cost is a critically important consideration. The sheer volume of activity means that even small increases in efficiency in transportation and distribution can amount to substantial savings of scarce resources. Significant savings, therefore, could mean enormous financial benefits to the U.S. government and to the recipients of these products and services. The utilization of Climate Controlled Containers (CCC) can provide precisely those advantages.
CCC containers allow the use of existing indoor and outdoor warehousing to store temperature sensitive products thus eliminating the need for costly cold facility storage. CCC containers facilitate the delivery of temperature sensitive products via dry LTL, vans, flat-beds, helicopter and lowboys. Up to 10 self-powered temperature controlled containers carrying food, medicine, water and other perishable products may be carried on the same vehicle. CCC containers drastically reduce or even eliminate the need for costly refrigerated/reefer trucks or ice boxes. They also eliminate unnecessary re-handling of temperature critical shipments that can compromise the payload and cause delays. CCC containers can be unloaded via fork lift, ramp, or lift and can be stacked vertically three high to maximize storage space. CCC containers allow the housing and/or receipt of off-loaded temperature sensitive products and store in any existing warehouse for up to 100 hours under its own power. CCC containers can be simply plugged into a standard 120V outlet to hold temperature indefinitely while drawing an average power demand of a 100W light bulb!
